Where the AE3F-DS50 Fits
The AE3F-DS50 is a diffuse-reflective photoelectric switch in an M18 threaded round body, covering 10-50 cm at +/-10% with sensitivity adjustment via the controller on the housing. It detects transparent and opaque objects - the duty class where inductive sensing simply does not apply.
The diffuse principle needs no reflector and no separate receiver: emitter and receiver share the M18 body, and the target itself returns the 660 nm light. That makes installation a single-side mounting job, at the cost of caring about background surfaces.
Construction matches the M18 inductive family: nickel-plated brass body with PMMA lens, IP67 sealing and a 2 m cable, so mechanical mounting and torque practice stay familiar.
Detection and Electrical Performance
Optical behavior: 10-50 cm range with the sensitivity controller, 1 ms response time and 1.5 ms connection delay - comfortably fast for conveyor presence checks, carton flaps and film breaks.
Electrical fit: DC types run 12-24 V nominal (6-36 V absolute); AC types run 110-220 V (90-250 V). Three-wire NPN and PNP outputs switch up to 300 mA; the AC two-wire type handles up to 400 mA. Consumption is 20 mA or less on DC types and 1.7 mA on AC.
Protection and environment: reverse-connection, surge absorption and load short-circuit protection on N/P/D types, 1000 V AC 1-minute withstand, 50 megohm or better insulation, rated -30 to +65 °C at 35-95% RH.
